How Long Does It Take to Build a Business Website?

There is no useful universal delivery time for a business website. The schedule depends on what must be built and how quickly content, access and decisions are available. A scoped plan is more reliable than a promise based only on page count.

Count unique work, not just pages

Five pages sharing one layout can be simpler than a single page with a booking workflow. Separate content pages, custom layouts, forms, account features and integrations. For example, a portfolio needs project descriptions and images; a dashboard also needs a data model and permissions.

Content is part of the schedule

Prepare service descriptions, project information, logos and image permissions before detailed design. A page designed around placeholder copy may need revision when the actual text arrives. Decide who writes, checks and approves each section so missing content does not become an invisible dependency.

Use review points with clear decisions

Agree the site structure before polishing individual screens. Review the visual design before implementing every route. Name the person who can approve each stage and collect feedback in one place. Conflicting feedback from several people can create more delay than the development itself.

Test integrations early

A contact form requires a working destination and a clear success or error response. A third-party system may require credentials, test accounts or approval from its provider. Confirm these dependencies early; an attractive interface cannot compensate for a missing integration.

Reserve time for launch checks

Check direct page links, mobile navigation, keyboard use, form validation, metadata and image loading. Confirm the domain, hosting and support owner. Test production configuration because a successful local build does not prove that email delivery or redirects work on the public domain.

What to send for a realistic estimate

Share the page list, two or three examples of the style you want, existing content, required integrations and any fixed deadline. Identify what is essential for launch and what can follow. Ask for milestones, dependencies and acceptance criteria alongside the estimate so both sides know what completion means.
